WRU Pembrokeshire & Ceredigion Player Development Pathway
New WRU Player Pathway
This season will see the launch of the new WRU player development pathway. The first age group on the pathway is the WRU U14 disrict development squads which will start in January each year and runs through to the beginning of April. The U15's Schools Dewar Shield programme is the next step for the talented players identified which runs from July through to April. The U15's will be the first age group where players are identified for U16 Regional rugby. The U16 inter district structure is the third step on the pathway for players who are not involved in the Regional squads with the main focus of identifying late developers for U16 and U18(U17) Regional squads. The U14 and U15 squads will be run on the district school boundries and the U16 will be run on the district clubs boundries.
The above structure will involve an 'open' Talent ID and selection process which will involve school, club and WRU personnel. More details of the process will be highlighted during the 2011/12 season.
